The Mission of Damdama College has primarily been to educate students in the first degree program in Arts under the Gauhati University. To this end, it has constructed classrooms, library, gymnasium, boys and girls common room and rest rooms, teacher’s common room etc. Curriculum planning at an institutional level has been largely eschewed because of the institutions affiliate status. Nonetheless, it has created systems where the curriculum as designed by the University can be executed to the best extent possible. Student Progression has been conceptualized through teaching learning process, involvement of students both in academics and extracurricular activities. To ensure that such process take place seamlessly, ICT facilities (at a limited scale) has also been created. Research at an institutional level has been planned and journals have been created. The College has strived to engage with local communities through dispersal of funds to skilled, yet economically dependent women. Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) has been established with institutions of national and regional importance.
For the immediate and long term future the college plans to introduce more skill oriented courses through development of the college infrastructure and collaboration with state and national institution of repute. It also plans to engage more in faculty development programs, help faculties in their professional growth through sponsorship of memberships in organizations; create more research based scope for academic exercise. At the same time, it plans to ensure that funds for college development are better sourced and utilized and contribute to the overall technology and infrastructure improvement of the college. An area of development could be the use of the biodiversity in the college and the related use of its land resources to create a multi-stream academic institution that is also a biodiversity hub. It aspires to ensure that the college is able to integrate its pedagogic exercise with community aspirations, especially the empowerment of the underprivileged and help in the aid of the elderly so that the national policy goals of education are better realized.
To develop the college as an center of academic and cultural excellence, to develop it into a multi-stream institution, integrating local and community aspiration with social and national missions for Higher Education
in India. To integrate indigenous knowledge systems with technology platforms for future so that the region's unique cultural and intellectual heritage is fostered. To ensure that its students, faculties and staff contribute substantially to academic excellence and cultural harmony of the region through research, teaching and social extension programs. To see that this institution with its large land area is a centre of postgraduate learning and research that is also a biodiversity hub. To ensure that its vision plans dovetail into economic self-sufficiency and innovative economic activity that finally shapes into national asset growth. To see that its efforts for biodiversity conservation influences and coalesces diverse linguistic, religious and cultural communities and create a strong and vibrant Indian nation. To continue to foster diversity and plurality of thought also as a humane and scientific institution that shapes the regions policy decisions through well conceived vision plans that are in tune with the nation's growth narrative
