Observation of 9th International Yoga Day

Theme: The theme for International Yoga Day, 2023 was determined by the United Nations. The theme selected for this International Yoga Day’s was ‘’Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’’ which represents our shared desire ‘’ One Earth, One Family, One Future’’
Significance of Yoga: International Yoga Day is observed worldwide on June 21 to raise awareness about the various benefits of practicing Yoga. Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘’Yuj’’ which means ‘’Union’’. The main significance of Yoga is to strengthen, bring awareness and harmony to mind and body. It brings a positive benefit on mastering the mind, managing with emotional & mental well-being and brings flexibility to the body with lots of healthy transformation of an individual.
On 21/06/23, PM Narendra Modi led the yoga session at UN Headquarters lawns in New York on the occasion of International Yoga Day and he has expressed that ‘’Yoga’’ is truly universal and free from copyrights and patents.
9th International Yoga Day was observed by the NSS unit, Damdama College which was held in the Conference Hall of Damdama College, Kulhati, Kamrup. All the faculty members and students of Damdama College performed Yoga which was led by Dr. Babita Kalita, Librarian, Damdama College.
