About Bishnu Prasad Rabha
: Bishnu Prasad Rabha was born on 31st
January 1909 at Dhaka, Bengal Presidency. He was an actor, music composer,
poet, dramatist, film director, dancer and writer. His music today known as “ Bishnu Sangeet’’. He was popularly
known as Kalaguru which was awarded by Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan at Varanasi for his mesmerizing ‘’Tandava’’
dance of Lord Shiva. His main motto of acting was to educate the masses. He was
also called by Marxists as Sainik Silpi for his active participation in the
armed struggle, led by the Revolution Communist Party of India (RCPI). He died on
20th June 1969 at the age of 60.
Rabha Divas is observed in
the state of Assam to honor the well known Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha .

Rabha Divas was observed by the Department of Assamese, Damdama College which
was held in the conference hall of Damdama College, Kulhati kamrup. Dr. Bijay
Krishna Doley, Assistant Professor department of Assamese, SBMS College, Sualkuchi
was invited as a chief guest to deliver a lecture on Bishnu Rabha’s life and on
his philosophy .The program was led by Mrs Manju Das , HoD along with other faculties of
Department of Assamese . In the programme all the faculties and students of Damdama College were present.
