A National seminar on Trade, Tariffs and Shifting Power Balances: understanding the Global Political Economy was held on 1st Noivember,2025, at Damdama College. The seminar began with a inaugural session where welcome address delivered by Dr. Seema Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Assam Downtown University and Dr. Anubhab Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Damdama College & Convenor of the Seminar. Dr. Suranjan Sharma, Principal of Damdama College, and Dr. Amiya Sarma, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Gauhati University, were present in the program as key note speakers. In the inaugural session Dr. Suranjan Sharma was delivered an abundant lecture on Trade Theory. He explained very conscientiously about the trade theories as well as World Trading System among the participants and resource persons. After that Dr. Amiya Sarma, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Gauhati University was also delivered a lecture on Trade and Tariffs: Changing Perspectives of India- US Bilateral Trade Relations. He delightfully explained that how India and U.S share a strong and expanding bilateral trade relationship that reflects deep economic and strategic ties. After that, the technical sessions were held in different rooms where the participants presented their research papers.

where he delivered a wonderful lecture addressing the participants. The seminar
was successfully ended with the distribution of certificates.
